I got tired of paying to ship air.

I'm Mathieu Currie, founder of CartonPilot. I build and operate the product from Vancouver, British Columbia.
My background sits where ecommerce software meets fulfillment. I've built systems for enterprise ecommerce organizations, and today I work directly in engineering and operations at a mid-sized B2B ecommerce company shipping throughout the United States and Canada.
I kept seeing correctly picked orders placed into unnecessarily expensive cartons - not because a packer made a mistake, but because the software chose a default box instead of evaluating the order in front of it.
Dimensional weight turns that empty space into a recurring charge. I built CartonPilot to stop it.
The order was right. The box was wrong. The carrier still billed the air.
Why CartonPilot exists
The mathematics behind cartonization is well understood. Putting it into production - quickly, transparently and without replacing the rest of your fulfillment stack - is still harder than it should be.
Many operations are caught between two options:
- Basic rules buried inside a WMS, with little visibility into why a box was selected.
- Enterprise packaging projects with enterprise budgets, contracts and implementation timelines.
CartonPilot is the practical middle path: a focused cartonization API that works with the systems you already use.
Send an order and your available cartons. CartonPilot returns the recommended box - or carton split - with exact item placements, rotations, weight checks, fill rates and estimated shipping economics.
No WMS replacement. No carrier migration. No lengthy implementation project.
In our published benchmark, CartonPilot shipped 44% fewer parcels and reduced estimated carrier spend by 37% compared with a standard first-fit packer. See the benchmark inputs, method and results. Run the free audit
Built from ecommerce experience
Before building CartonPilot, I spent years developing ecommerce systems at DoublePrime, an agency whose clients included Estée Lauder Companies and several of its brands.
That work gave me experience building and supporting systems for large, complex ecommerce organizations - where reliability, integrations and operational details matter, and seemingly small software decisions can affect thousands of transactions.
My direct understanding of packing and cartonization came later, through my engineering and operations work in B2B ecommerce and fulfillment. That is where I saw how often otherwise-correct orders were assigned the wrong carton - and how consistently the resulting dimensional weight eroded margin.
CartonPilot brings those experiences together: enterprise software discipline applied to a specific fulfillment problem that should be much easier to solve.
DoublePrime's work for Estée Lauder Companies was previous agency work. Estée Lauder Companies and its brands are not affiliated with or endorsing CartonPilot.
Founder-led, by design
CartonPilot is founder-led today. I write the software, operate the service and answer customer questions directly. That means:
Direct support
When you email CartonPilot, you reach the person who built the engine. I typically respond within one business day, Pacific time.
A customer-driven roadmap
Product decisions come directly from real fulfillment requirements - not from a committee or a generic feature checklist.
A portable integration
The API specification is public, your saved data is exportable, and CartonPilot fits upstream of your existing WMS, OMS, rate shopper and label provider.
Let's look at a real order
If you're evaluating CartonPilot, send me a representative order profile and your carton catalog.
I'll tell you where the current packing logic may be costing you money - and just as importantly, whether the potential savings justify an integration.
