How CartonPilot compares
Most cartonization software is sold through a demo request. This page is the opposite: every claim below is checked against the vendor's own public site, including the places where their product is the better choice than mine.

Checked against each vendor's public site on 30 July 2026. Pricing and packaging change, and third-party software directories are often years out of date, so nothing here is sourced from them. If something is wrong or has changed, tell me and I will correct it.
A word on comparing price
Headline prices in this category are not comparable, because the units differ. CartonPilot bills per item optimized. 3DBinPacking bills per calculation, which is one API request regardless of how many units it contains.
A three-unit order is three items here and one calculation there. So per-item pricing wins on small orders and loses on large ones, and the crossover depends on your average units per order. Anyone telling you their pricing is simply cheaper without asking that question is not doing the arithmetic.
Work it out on your own order profile. The free tier is large enough to measure it properly before you pay anything.
When to choose someone else
These are real products solving real problems, and several of them do things CartonPilot does not do at all.
Paccurate
A mature, patented cost-aware engine that factors negotiated rate cards, material and labour costs into the packing decision. Handles LTL and FTL as well as parcel, and has a real customer base behind it.
Choose them if: You want labour cost modelled inside the packing decision, you ship freight as well as parcel, or you want a vendor with a longer track record than a product launched this year.
3DBinPacking
Published per-calculation pricing, a 14-day trial with no credit card, and container and truck loading alongside parcel packing. The closest thing to a like-for-like self-serve alternative.
Choose them if: You need container or pallet loading in the same tool, or your orders are large enough that per-calculation pricing beats per-item pricing. See the note on units below.
MagicLogic
Enterprise on-premise load optimization, deployed as a Windows service inside your own infrastructure, with REST and SOAP interfaces and deep WMS and ERP integrations. Serious mixed-case palletization and robotics support.
Choose them if: You need software running inside your own network rather than a hosted API, you are optimizing pallets and trucks, or procurement requires an on-premise deployment.
Optioryx
A broader warehouse optimization platform - cartonization is one module alongside picking, slotting and pallet stacking - that sits on top of an existing WMS.
Choose them if: You want the box decision connected to picking, slotting and pallet planning rather than solved on its own.
Where CartonPilot fits
- You want to evaluate it today, on your own orders, without booking a call.
- You are optimizing parcels, not pallets.
- You want the price before the conversation, including what overage costs.
- You would rather check a benchmark than trust one - ours publishes its inputs, method and runner, and reports 44% fewer parcels.
- You want to keep your WMS, carrier and label provider exactly as they are.
Where it does not
- Pallets, trucks and containers. CartonPilot optimizes parcels only.
- Procurement requiring SOC 2 or ISO 27001 today. Neither exists yet, and the security page says so.
- Buyers who need named customer references. There are none to show yet.
- Teams wanting an on-premise deployment inside their own network.
- Anyone who needs a support organization rather than one person answering email.
Questions people actually ask
What is the best cartonization API?
It depends on what you are optimizing. If you need pallet, truck or container loading, MagicLogic, Optioryx and 3DBinPacking all do that and CartonPilot does not. If you need parcel cartonization behind a self-serve API with published pricing and a free tier, CartonPilot is designed for that case. Paccurate is the most mature parcel-focused alternative.
Is there a free cartonization API?
CartonPilot has a free tier of 1,000 items per month that does not expire and needs no credit card. Paccurate offers a 30-day trial and an open rate-limited API you can call without a key. 3DBinPacking offers a 14-day trial with no credit card. MagicLogic and Optioryx are quote-based.
How does CartonPilot pricing compare?
CartonPilot bills per item optimized; 3DBinPacking bills per calculation, meaning per API request. A three-unit order is three items to CartonPilot and one calculation to 3DBinPacking, so which is cheaper depends entirely on your average units per order. Compare on your own order profile rather than on headline price.
Can I try these before committing?
CartonPilot's free audit runs the production engine on your own order data with no account at all. Paccurate's API answers a limited number of unkeyed requests. 3DBinPacking and Optioryx require an account for their trials, and MagicLogic requires contacting sales.
Where is CartonPilot the weaker choice?
Anywhere pallets, trucks or containers are involved - CartonPilot optimizes parcels only. It also has no published customer case studies yet, no SOC 2, and is operated by one person. If procurement requires a certification or a vendor with an established support organization, choose one of the others.
Decide with your own numbers
Paste a real order into the free audit and see what changes. No account, no card, and the result is the production engine rather than a sales estimate.
